Before you begin
To use automatic check-in with Cisco Meraki, your Wi-Fi network must meet the following requirements:
1. Users must authenticate with their full email address
Employees must sign in to the Wi-Fi using their full email address as the username.
Automatic check-in will not work if:
Users only enter a password (no username)
The Wi-Fi username does not exactly match the employee's email address in Eden
2. Your network must use 802.1X / RADIUS authentication
Your Cisco Meraki wireless network must be configured to use 802.1X / RADIUS authentication.
This allows Eden to read the authenticated username (the employee's email address) and match it to the correct employee record.
Verify your Meraki authentication
Before configuring the integration, verify that your Meraki network is sending the correct identity information.
In the Cisco Meraki Admin Portal:
Go to Network-wide → Event Log
Filter for 802.1X authentication events
Open an authentication event
Locate the Identity field
The Identity value should exactly match the employee's email address in Eden.
If the Identity field contains anything other than the user's full email address, automatic check-in will not function correctly.
Configure the Cisco Meraki integration
Once your network meets the authentication requirements:
In Eden, navigate to Settings → Integrations → Cisco Meraki
2. Launch the integration wizard.
3. Follow the prompts to:
Generate an API key in Meraki
Configure the webhook
Test the connection
The wizard will walk you through each required step.
Upload user MAC addresses
After the integration is connected, you'll need to upload your employees' device MAC addresses.
To upload MAC addresses:
Go to Settings → Manage Users
Click the ⋮ (three-dot menu) next to + Add User
Select Update Users MAC Addresses
Download the CSV template
Add one or more employee MAC addresses
Import the completed CSV back into Eden
These MAC addresses allow Eden to identify employee devices when they connect to your Meraki network.
Test automatic check-in
Once setup is complete:
Ensure the employee has:
A desk reservation for today
A MAC address uploaded into Eden
Disconnect the employee's device from Wi-Fi.
Reconnect the device to the Cisco Meraki network.
If everything is configured correctly, the employee should be automatically checked into their reservation within approximately 5 minutes of reconnecting to Wi-Fi.
Troubleshooting
If automatic check-in isn't working, verify the following:
The Wi-Fi uses 802.1X / RADIUS authentication.
Employees sign into Wi-Fi using their full email address.
The email shown in the Meraki Identity field exactly matches the employee's email address in Eden.
The employee has a reservation for the current day.
The employee's device MAC address has been uploaded to Eden.
The Cisco Meraki integration wizard completed successfully and the webhook test passed.
